ReelBolt Runner

The ReelBolt Runner is a small app you install on your own Windows or Linux computer. Once it is paired with your workspace, video work that can run on that computer runs there instead of in the cloud. Work done on your computer uses no ReelBolt credits.

When to use it

  • You render a lot of video and want to stop spending credits on the heavy part.
  • You have a computer that is idle most of the day and can do the work.
  • You want the video files to be produced on a machine you control.

The AI thinking, model calls, transcription and billing always stay on ReelBolt. The Runner only takes the media work: video renders, video compiles and video analysis. If your computer is off, your workspace can fall back to the cloud, depending on the compute setting described on the Desktop runner page.

What you need

  • Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or a 64-bit Linux desktop.
  • A ReelBolt account and a workspace where you are the Owner or an Admin, or your own Personal workspace.
  • An internet connection. The Runner only makes outgoing connections to ReelBolt; you do not open any port.
  • For video renders (Remotion), Docker or Podman. Without one, the Runner still takes the simpler video work and tells ReelBolt that it cannot take renders. See Troubleshooting.

The steps

  1. Download the installer from reelbolt.ai/runner.
  2. Install it: Windows or Linux.
  3. Pair it with your workspace.
  4. Leave it running. It updates itself.
